Marian Engineering College, a cradle of excellence in technical education established in 2001, has become a pioneer institute for engineering studies in Kerala. The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala and has emerged as a leader in the self financing sector. At MEC, we, are shaped to be the next generation technical leaders and in doing so create a new dimension to innovation.

It is with this goal in mind, that the ELECTRONICS department of our college is organizing a one day technical symposium, ASTHRA’09, an arena for the innovative minds to explore the new realms of science and technology,on the 7th october 2009

Our objectives are simple and novel; introducing the latest advancements in ever changing technical field of electronics. We create an innovative Rendezvous for the best technical minds, to battle it out to find the best and in the process creating a new standard in the list of technical fest.

ASTHRA is a one day technical symposium. Even though time is a constraint for us, we have included three events that will comprehend all the different realms of technical fest, a test of innovative ideas, a test of brains and of course a few moments of understanding current technologies.

We are conducting two events for the different colleges,

VIGNJYAN (PAPER PRESENTATION)
LAKSHYA (TECH QUIZ).
We are also conducting a seminar on MEMs technology for the students of our college, lead by A.R. KRISHNAN,group director at VSSC.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Maximum of two members per team

2. Multimedia Presentation

3.Abstract not exceeding 200 words should be sent toasthra2k9mec@gmail.comon or before 1st october 2009

4.LCD projectors will be provided

5.10 finalist will be selected according to discretion of the judges, the finalists will intimated before the 5th october

6.The finalist should report at the college before 9:30 am onoctober 7th 2009.

7.Topics should be based on the following fields:

:INTELLIGENT OPTICAL NETWORKS
:NANO TECHNOLOGY
:NEURAL NETWORK AND FUZZY LOGIC
:RECENT TRENDS IN MICRO SYSTEM PACKAGING
:SATELLITE AND MOBILE COMMUNICATION
:VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTATION
:NEW TRENDS IN FACTS (FLEXIBLE AC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM)
POWER ELECTRONICS
:CONTROL THEORY AND APPLICATIONS

8.Decision of the judges will be final

9.The event is open to all semesters

10.NO REGISTRATION FEES

FIRST PRIZE :- 5000/-
