ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT…
Department of Physics has started functioning since the day of inception of Alagappa University and offering postgraduate and Doctoral level. Being located in the rural outskirts of Sivaganga district, it has produced about 50 Ph.D scholars, 260 M.Phil students and 420 M.Sc, Students. Currently 50 scholars are working for their Doctoral programme in various fields of research such as thin film semiconductors, transparent conducting oxides, Energy materials, Polymer electrolytes, NLO single crystals, semiconductor synthesis, dielectrics etc.
In a short span of time, the Department has been identified under UGC-SAP and DST-FIST programmes of Government of India with the intention to encourage the “Pursuit of Excellence” and to accelerate the realization of international standards in research fields. Several research funding agencies such as DAE, DST, UGC, UGC-DAEF, CSIR, DRDO, AICTE, TNSCST and MNES have sponsored major research projects with a grant of Rs.3.5 crores. Major analytical facilities such as XRD, FT-IR, UV-VIS-NIR, PL spectrophotometer, Impedance analyzer are available in the department for characterization work.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE…
technological applications emerging from these materials are viz. Lithium ion batteries, Fuel cells, Sensors, Super Capacitors, NLO materials, Solar energy etc. This conference will provide a platform for the collaboration amongst the Materials Science researchers all over the world. The young researchers entering this field are particularly encouraged.
