Welcome to INDCON ’10, national level technical symposium organized by the Department of Industrial Engineering, Anna University,Chennai. We aim at providing a platform for budding engineers to showcase their talents and creating an environment for encouraging ‘competitive enlightenment’. Title : 14 point size, Times New Roman, Bold, Not more than 100 words

Author(s) name : 12 point size, Bold, Department, and Organization/Institute

Abstract Content : 12 point size, No bold, No mathematical expression/ Symbols, Not more than 200 words.

RULES:

Only two participants per team.

The abstract of your paper in the given format must reach us through mail by 15/02/2010. Mail your abstracts to indcon10ppt@gmail.com .

The selected participants will be requested to submit two hard copies and one soft copy on the day of presentation.

Papers that provide obvious information about the participant will be rejected without review.

TEAM RULES:

1. A team can consist of up to 2 people.

2. A team may have students from different colleges and disciplines.

3. No participant can be a part of more than 1 team.

4. There is no restriction on the number of teams from the same college.

Will I get travel allowance to participate in the finals?
Yes, one way fare and accommodation will be provided to limited number of students on FCFS basis.
What is this event’s certificate policy?
Certificates will be given to all finalists

NOTE:

1. The list given above is a list of guidelines for topics. Participants who feel they have a paper that pertains to the Industrial Engineering discipline, but is not covered above, are free to still send in their entries, but they will be considered only if the judging panel deems the paper relevant.

2. The decisions of the judging panel during short listing of papers as well as during the main event at INDCON’10 are final and binding. No arguments relating to the same will be entertained.

3. The organizers reserve the right to change the rules of the event at any time and will do their best to update the contestants of the same. However it is the responsibility of the participants to keep themselves updated.

3. E-Facts

For the “Siege,” a team of traditional wood workers constructed two trebuchets — giant catapults capable of hurling 250-pound boulders to knock down castle walls.

According to lore, England’s King Edward I ordered his men to build such “a monstrous new weapon” in 1304, two centuries before cannons, during his attack on Scotland’s Sterling Castle.

“Details about the weapon design are tantalizingly vague,” says narrator Stacy Keach, “except that it was nicknamed “Warwolf’ and its appearance outside the walls terrified the garrison.”

That was 700 years ago. No one knows for sure whether such devices were made or how Middle Ages men could have constructed them without cranes and power tools.

“There was supposedly this mechanized catapult which could shatter the walls, but all we have are some fishing tales which probably sound very exaggerated, and some very strange-looking pictures where the soldiers are often taller than the castle walls,”

Ease – Tease – Wees

INDCON is introducing for the first time ease-tease-Wees for the budding brains with full of fresh ideas. Revolutionize the world with your craze ideas. All this demands you to think simple, simpler, and simplest…….

FORMAT

Consider a keyboard, a mouse, a calculator or any other thing that you use it in your day-to-day life.

You will be given the existing design and other parameter details of a product, say, a keyboard.

All you need to do is re-create the existing design either by doing some alterations or changing the entire design.

You need to do these things with the CAD tools (PRO-E Wirefire and CATIA V5 only) that will be given to you @ the competition venue.

Evaluation will be based on the features what you incorporate with regards to human comfort and how your design will be of its best effectiveness to man.

You will also be asked to endorse the features you added by means of explaining it to the jury.

RULES

Maximum number of participants per team is 2.

You need to register here

Event will be conducted only on the spot. Participants are not allowed to bring a ready- made design. They should work with the software only on spot.

Maximum time that will be given to complete the task is 1.30 hr.

Software that are allowed to use are PRO-E and CATIA. Other software are not entertained.

Working PCs or laptops will be provided. Participants who wish to bring their own laptops with the above recommended software are also invited.

Evaluation of the jury will be final.

Any kind of activity of the participant that will spoil the event is not entertained.
