      EXeBOT -A SPA OF ROBOTRIX

Exebot, A robotics workshop especially designed by members of Robotics club, Saveetha Engg College, for newbie’s and robotics enthusiasts of all disciplines.

Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of robotics and will learn to apply them in real life. Participants can use this knowledge to build various manual and autonomous robots to participate in the robotic events held in almost all colleges every year.

This one day intensive yet fun-filled workshop includes hands-on sessions on designing, analyzing and building a variety of circuits and using them as basic building blocks for different robots.

At the end of this workshop, the participants will have designed and implemented their own autonomous robots exhibiting single / multiple behaviors such as (but not limited to) phototropic, photophobic, obstacle avoiding, wall following and path tracing.

The participants will also have designed from the scratch, a manually controlled all terrain robot to go over rough terrains and inclinations.

The participants of this workshop are not just going to build robots, but something greater – a passion for robotics coupled with the knowledge and confidence to take on the world with their self-made machines.

The concepts that will be covered are: Introduction to robotics
      Basic Fundamentals of Robotics
Robot Locomotion and Basic Robot Construction
      Basic Electronic and RC Circuits
      Transmission system.
      Motors and Motor Drivers
Circuits from OP-Amp and IC 555
      Sensor design and building
      Good Engineering Practices
      Electrical Control System

The take-away kit: All the circuits designed and discussed during the course of this workshop will be enclosed as a kit.
This kit includes all the necessary tools and components to build a self-contained autonomous and manual robot out of discrete electronic components.

The kit shall consist of the following:

      Motors (Geared -4)
      Motor Driver Kit
      Power Supply Kit
      Robust chassis
      DPDT Switches(2) with switch box
      Ribbon and connecting wires
      Breadboard
Assortment of Transistors, Resistors, Capacitors and Diodes
      LEDs
      Comparator and timer IC
      IR sensor pair
      Potentiometers
      Logic Gates
      Tools and other accessories.

The workshop will be conducted in two phases Manual bot Session:

      Session 1: Theory – 9:00 am to 10:30 am
      Session 2: Hands-On – 10:45 am to 12.30 pm
      Autonomous bot Session:

      Session 3: Theory – 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
      Session 4: Hands-On – 3:45pm to 5:00pm

Registration: Participants can opt for one of the options

A team of 4 members with take away kit: Rs. 2200
      Individual Participation without kit: Rs.300

General Rules: Every team should select a team leader
Participants must bring the receipt they receive on registration. Participants won’t be allowed to attend the workshop without the valid receipt.
Participants must bring adequate writing material (pen, notepad etc).
Request for the cancellation of the registration won’t be entertained. Amount paid will not be refunded in any case.
Participants are requested to adhere to the session timings strictly.
Coordinators will not be responsible for any damage or loss to the kit after it has been verified by the team leader.
Participants must maintain strict discipline and follow all the necessary college rules.
      Lunch will not be provided.

Mode of Payment: Participants have to pay the amount for the workshop, in advance, through DD (Demand Draft) to ‘DRESTEIN’ – Payable at Chennai . A scan copy of the DD should be mailed to no.1ankush@gmail.com on or before 30.08.2010.
