Do you reach for Google Earth/Maps to locate every new place you hear of and search for directions from one place to another? Does 3D modeling thrill you? Can you work your way through a map as good as a cartographer? Then you are already a spatial thinker and what’s more, laurels await you at Geohorizon 2011, if you make sure to take part in this event! Rules: An on-the-spot problem will be given to participants on the day of the event. The team that comes up with the most optimal idea gets to win the prize. What we look for is for your WIT and a little bit of geospatial stuff in your answers. Maximum of 4 participants in a team. Tip: Well, let’s start at square one. Just make sure you attend the FUN WITH GIS! demo. MAGNUM OPUS Do you have a geospatial idea that you think can take-off? Well, we give you an opportunity to incept that idea into our minds! In the last decade, nanoscale science and technology related subjects have witnessed an exponential growth. The possibility of probing the fundamental mechanisms at the nanoscale and molecular levels through a progressively increasing capability to understand and control the basic properties of nanomaterials, seems to offer fantastic unlimited new prospects for the future. Other advanced materials are intimately linked to the progress realized in the field of nanotechnology. These materials provide the basic understanding of the mechanism of various processes that determine their properties. While this symposium is addressing the various aspects of nanotechnology, it will as well as emphasis the importance of other advanced materials can play in our scientific knowledge and their potential to provide and understanding of the physical and chemical properties in the nanoscale structures. The symposium will focus on research and development in the areas of nanomaterials, nanoengineering, nanofabrications and advanced materials with the vision of bridging the gap between the Nano and Macro scale materials.
